Homeland of Assam Tea: The Brahmaputra Valley
Assam Hatikuli tea originates from the fertile Assam valley, located in northeastern India, along the mighty Brahmaputra River. This region is known for its unique climatic conditions, including abundant rainfall and high humidity, which are ideal for growing strong and aromatic tea.
Interesting fact: Assam became the first region outside of China where an endemic species of tea bush, Camellia sinensis var. assamica, was discovered, which fundamentally changed the global tea industry in the 19th century and marked the beginning of mass tea production in India.
